Everyone needs extra storage space, but finding the right piece to fit the unused nooks in your home is time-consuming and unproductive. Until HouseWerks began production, your options available included: coated wire shelving systems, melamine (plastic-coated particle board), furniture store modular systems, and very expensive custom cabinetry.

Made of furniture-grade, hardwood laminated board, the shelves are strong, stable, and won't bow under heavy loads. HouseWerks' shelves are built in the Arts and Crafts style and are similar to the shelves designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and used in his Prairie-Style home (see shelf design). This shelving style is complementary to Contemporary, Mission, and Modern style furnishings.

HouseWerks shelves can be as long and as deep as you wish. Shelf ends can either be squared off (90-degree angles) or beveled (45-degree angles). See shelf end angle options and shelf end veneer trim options).

Price Quotes
Before you start detailed planning of your HouseWerks shelving unit, you probably want to get an idea of how much your shelving will cost. HouseWerks has an automated price quote delivery system that will send you a custom quote based on your measurements and the options you select. Determine the total length (in inches) of all of the shelves in your shelving plan. If all of the shelves are of the same length, multiply the number of shelves by the length of each shelf in inches.
If you plan to include vertical supports in your shelving unit, it will be helpful to have available the following:
- Distance from the floor to the upper surface of the bottom shelf and
- Distance from the floor to the upper surface of the top shelf.

If you have finalized your design for the shelving unit you want built and have made your selections from the many shelving options available, request a price quote to assure that the price quoted for your design is within your shelving budget.

If you are satisfied with the design and the price of the shelving unit, and are ready to place your order, please fill out all of three of the online order forms listed below:
HouseWerks is in the process of moving our order form to a new server using new software. We apologize for the need to fill out three order forms. This is a temporary situation and hopefully will be remedied by November 2006.
Processing and Fabrication
When the Materials Deposit is paid, HouseWerks places your order on the production schedule. The time required for fabrication of your order ranges from three weeks to seven weeks, depending on the time of year, size of your order, and the number of orders already in the production cycle. When we finish your order, the shelving will be photographed and the photos posted on our web site, for you to view before completing the purchase. A more complete overview is available at processing your order. There are several methods from which to choose how to make your payments.
Delivery
After the final payment is made, the shelving will be
shipped to you by DHL). After three to seven days in transit, the shelving unit will be delivered to your door.

You can choose from one of four
wood finish options. If you are a do-it-yourself (DIY) person, you can order your shelving unfinished and finish it yourself to save a lot of money. We provide complete instructions.
Installation
HouseWerks shelving is not difficult to install. It requires a minimal number of tools, some patience, and is easier done with a helper. Refer to our Installing Your Shelves page for written and visual aids explaining the installation process. Typically, our customers need 20-40 minutes to mark each wall and 10-15 minutes per shelf to install. HouseWerks' Customer Support staff are available to answer your questions.
